STL file 3d data embedded in Word or Powerpoint documents?

Hello List,

There are several excellent free STL file viewers
available now. Do any of these allow you to embed 3d data
into a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint document for internal or
external company documentation? Would such a function be useful
to people in the rapid prototyping community? A free plugin
is required to be installed on the PC used to view the
document. The same plugin would allow you to view 3d objects
in HTML web pages also.

Since STL files can be very large, file compression is a
big part of the proposed process. The amount of 3d data
packaged in an Ms Office document for example should be
a function of the size of the viewing window, not just
the complexity of the object. The bottom line is that
although STL files can be very large, getting a good
3d display in an otherwise 2d document does not necessarily
require huge files.

If you have any feedback about this concept, or would like to
view a sample of what I am talking about, please contact me
at ''. Thank you.

Best wishes,
