>Darius,

we have been using the Zephyr blade on a SLA 250 since July and we are very
satisfied. There has been a dramatic increase in productivity. So far we have
had only one blade crash (not the fault of the Zephyr) which, however, showed
us that the Zephyr, is less forgiving in this situation. As a consequence the
blade was sucked full with polymerized material and needed extensive cleaning,
which was quite tedious to do. I heard that on the SLA500 the blade sometimes
doesn't contain enough liquid to cover large flat surfaces. We never had
problems
(on the SLA250) in this respect although our plattforms tend to be packed. I
really am VERY happy with the Zephyr: better productivity, no bubbles ( I may
have seen half a dozen in 4 months !). Since an important business for us are
tiny parts we also noticed better precision in the Z-direction, which allows an
easier (and smaller) correction with our Z-Shifter program. If you have an
SLA-250 without
the Zephyr and some money to spend before the end of the year: Don't hesitate
a second to upgrade it to a SLA250/50.

Two more things:
1. We never had a problem with trapped volumes
2. At this stage we don't know how well the Zephyr works with acrylic resins
(SL5149)
3D systems doesn't know either.

Best regards,

Paul Bernhard

I hear that some people are having problems with the Zephyr blade to the extent
that they are taking it away again. Are we really an exception in being enthused
about the Zephyr recoater ? We are very willing to share our experiences with
that technique and I am inviting those who have problems to contact us at the
above address.

Sincerely,

Paul Bernhard, PROFORM Ltd.
