SMAU CADD '97
Milan Fairgrounds, 7-10 May 1997
Computer graphics continues to be a vital and important
field, and for this reason SMAU has organized a new
exhibition, SMAU CADD, which will be held for the first
time at the Milan Fairgrounds, 7-10 May 1997. SMAU CADD
stands for SMAU Computer Aided Design & Drafting, and
includes analysis applications, manufacturing and general
production, data management for products and documentation,
multimedia, simulation, virtual prototyping, reverse
engineering, animation, and many other technologies which
use digital systems for the control of business processes,
both discrete and continuous.
Many new solutions which few could imagine when computer
graphics began are now available in industrial and
professional fields, in the mechanical field in particular,
but also in plant engineering, civil and industrial
engineering, architecture, territory management, product
testing, logistics and services. These new products mark a
new era in computer graphics software since they
incorporate and integrate intelligent functions, open
systems, symbol libraries, object databases and especially
the options which allow the user to personalize software
and make it suitable for the task at hand. The World Wide
Web will undoubtedly soon profoundly affect these fields too.
Open to these trends and new high-tech professional
applications, SMAU is responding to this constantly
expanding market whose importance is spreading widely
despite the current economic slump. To organize SMAU CADD,
SMAU is working with the Society of Manufacturing
Engineers, A/E/C SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL and the World
Computer Graphics Association, whose trademark
I.CO.GRAPHICS has been acquired. The most recent products
will be presented at SMAU CADD '97 to all those who work
with computer-assisted technologies. The nex exhibition is
based on the experience acquired thanks to the Smau
Catal-Cad specialized area and in response to the needs for
competitive updates expressed by the manufacturing
companies and professionals who visit the area dedicated to
computer graphics in SMAU each fall.
To enrich the exhibition, an agreement has already been
reached with PubliTec and MS Automation to hold the fifth
national conference on rapid prototyping on 8 May 1997 and
a workshop devoted to the problems of developing new
products on 9 May 1997. You will be hearing more about SMAU
CADD before the exhibition starts. The aim is to make it
the place where technical users can come together to make
their businesses more competitive.
