RE: Surface finish - Comparisons and Importance

Just dug out some 'Talysurf' results that PERA performed on vertical test
pieces.

They were both 0.1mm layer thickness but sample 'A' was default build
parameters and sample 'B' was user specific build parameters.

This was on SL5190

Sample 'A' Max RA value 3.8564 Min RA value 3.2932 Average RA value
3.56512 mM

Sample 'B' Max RA value 1.9529 Min RA value 1.7391 Average RA value
1.85646 mM

When I have a quite period I shall be doing the same tests in RPC 300ND
resin at layer thickness 0.1mm 0.05mm and 0.025mm.

Most of our customers consider that finer surface roughness values is very
important in the quality of the model and because it is possible to achieve
it without considerable cost implications everyone benefits.

Does anyone else have any other results?
Has 3D Systems published any comparisons of vertical surface roughness with
their different approved resins.

I shall also consider quoting the vertical surface roughness on our
proposals to help the customer decide on the quality of model he wants.
